-USED- J. Rockett Audio Designs Animal OD Overdrive Pedal
Back by popular demand, J. Rockett Audio Designs’ Animal OD overdrive pedal faithfully re-creates the sound of an overdriven 1968 Plexi tube amp. The Animal OD delivers all the grunt and midrange bark of the vintage guitar amps that launched high-decibel rock ’n’ roll, but it cleans up nicely when you dial back your guitar’s volume pot. The controls — Gain, Bass, Treble, and Volume — are quite easy to use, and no matter where they’re set, they deliver killer tone.
The gold standard for overdrive
The EL34-powered Plexi stack remains the gold standard of loud. These amps weren’t particularly high-gain (not by today’s standards), but they delivered glorious overdrive when pushed. They also didn’t have master volume controls, so when you cranked them you were overdriving both the preamp and output tubes, the combination being largely responsible for their coveted harmonic complexity. The J. Rockett Audio Designs Animal OD captures this legendary Plexi tone and puts it right underfoot.
