-USED- Catalinbread CBX Gated Reverb Pedal

Compact and capable, the Catalinbread CBX puts one of the most iconic reverb effects on your pedalboard. While gated reverb’s most famous application is on snare drum, guitar players find it to be an excellent way to add over-the-top reverb to the signal without destroying the integrity of a mix. The CBX gated reverb pedal comes with a digital reverb circuit with a fully adjustable gate that fits any genre and style. You get controls over the reverb’s thickness and intensity, plus a Lag knob for a subtle delay between the original signal and the onset of the gate. There’s even an overdrivable preamp to add extra texture to your sound. And like all great reverb pedals, the CBX also has a wet/dry mix control to help you get the perfect tone.

Quickly craft the perfect reverb

Catalinbread made sure that the CBX meets the needs of any player. Dialing it in is simple. The pedal comes with an overdrivable onboard preamp controlled by the Pre knob. You can shape the reverb’s intensity with the Verb control. Meanwhile, the Lag parameter adjusts the delay between the original note and the onset of the gate. The gate’s sensitivity is fully adjustable, too. Finally, dial in the perfect dry/wet signal ratio with the Mix knob.

How does a gated reverb work?

Gated reverb is a technique popularized by Phil Collins. It’s the magic behind the iconic drums on “In The Air Tonight.” Gated reverb combines both reverb and a noise gate. The way it works is simple. A noise gate is either closed or open. When closed, the noise gate blocks all signal from passing through. When an audio signal is stronger than the threshold, the gate opens and allows sound to pass before snapping shut when the signal dips below the threshold again. A gated reverb will give you a huge, soaring reverb when you’re playing and cut the signal when you’re not.
