Catalinbread Sinkhole Ethereal Reverb Pedal
At its core, the Catalinbread Sinkhole Ethereal pedal offers a lush reverb that’s vast and consuming as it pushes atmospheric limits to reveal sinkholes of decay. With the maximum settings selected, you’ll find that the Sinkhole Ethereal reverb’s notes ring out almost infinitely with pad-like sustain, akin to a spaced-out synthesizer! But the Sinkhole’s real intergalactic potential arises from two other circuits: a 4-voice tunable chorus effect and a preamp volume control that wards off signal loss even when the modulation runs wild. The modulation section can sweeten leads and yield ethereal strums, but pushing the wet/dry blend to its limit transforms your guitar tone into something like a vintage analog-digital hybrid synth. Obtain radically different sounds with only modest tweaks to this reverb pedal’s deceptively simple controls. Catalinbread touts this as its most “out-there” reverb pedal to date, and we’re inclined to agree. Tunable warble, quasi-phasing, chewy comb filters, and sweeping auto-filter cadences represent a small sampling of what you can achieve with the ambitiously twisted Sinkhole Ethereal reverb pedal
Sinkhole controls:
- MOD: adjusts the intensity of a multi-voice chorus effect
- FDBCK: adjusts chorus feedback as well as depth and is extremely interactive with other parameter settings
- VERB: alters the decay of a lush, sprawling reverb that’s designed to be pushed
- MIX: full-range wet/dry signal blending with near-infinite sustain at maximum settings
- VOL: rich preamp power that can tame, boost, or saturate output (can also be used as a clean boost)
Buffered/true bypass switching
Every player is different, and the Ethereal reverb accommodates each of us by providing buffered or true bypass switching accessed via an internal switch. Buffered mode lets resonate trails naturally fade when bypassing the effect, while true bypass delivers an instant cutoff that’s perfect for heavy-handed transitions.
Boost headroom up to 18V!
The Sinkhole reverb is incredibly customizable, as is its signal strength! The Sinkhole’s Volume knob maps to a warm preamp circuit that can tame or boost output as needed. This degree of dynamics control is invaluable when switching between recording and onstage play. With all other settings turned fully counterclockwise, the preamp circuit even works as a clean boost! Some high-output pickups and loud pedals may introduce slight clipping with the preamp knob dimed. To eliminate clipping, Catalinbread lets users power the Sinkhole at up to 18V for additional headroom if desired!
