The star of the Eons is the 5-position mode switch, giving you access to five distinct “states” that are a veritable history lesson in the art of fuzz.

• I: This position produces a traditional soft-clipping silicon-style fuzz with a smooth response and rounded-over high end.
• II: The second position is also silicon-style clipping, but pushed harder and with an added bass boost.
• III: Walrus Audio describes this one as “if a distortion and a fuzz had a kid,” and that’s about as apt of a description as you’re going to get! In more technical terms, it’s a rough and dynamic germanium soft clipping-style fuzz.
• IV: This one is a bit of a darker tone, courtesy of LED clipping diodes. It’s a great setting to tame brighter guitars and amps.
• V: The fifth setting is the Eons at its wildest: hard-clipping silicon transistors combined with silicon and LED soft-clipping diodes. If you’re after a mean, compressed voice, this one will be your go-to setting.

Variable voltage control

While the Eons might be labeled as a “5-state” design, a variable voltage knob unlocks far more tones than that by drastically changing the fuzzy voice of each state. At the lowest 3V settings, Eons produces a nasty, sputtering tone that’s reminiscent of a gated fuzz — Jack White-inspired garage rockers are particularly fond of this setting! Crank it up to 18V for massive fuzzy walls of sound or even slide it somewhere in between to combine these two extremes into your own signature fuzz tone.
